The SNCF CC 40100 is a series of ten bi-current electric locomotives of the SNCF. They were delivered in two phases, the first four in 1964, and the last six, with some improvements in 1969-1970. These machines were designed to provide international services between France, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany. Their equipment allowed them to use multiple current systems, allowing them to effectively browse all railway networks of continental Europe which had standard gauge. Their size was also reduced to allow them to reach London by the Channel Tunnel then projected. |
