Pesa, a Polish locomotive manufacturer, has presented the new Gama platform which should offer both - multi-system electric and a diesel-electric version. The name Gama was selected as the best name for the new locomotive, after a competition organised by Pesa. Other good options were Raptor, Quadra and EnergyLok. The first unit should be ready in 2012 and will be a four-axle version for 3kV voltage systems. The exterior design of the Gama is in line with other modern locomotive products.
