	Equipment '54 (Materiel '54) was a series of two and four-car electric trains of the Dutch Railways, named after the year in which the first order was placed. Because of the characteristic shape of the nose, they were (although not officially) often referred to as Hondekop (Dog's head). Between 1956 and 1962, a total of 73 four-car sets and 68 two-car sets were manufactured. Equipment '54 was primarily designed for fast passenger train service with comfort in mind, while acceleration was of lesser importance.
