The term LRZ (German: Lösch- und Rettungszug) denotes Swiss Federal Railways' (SBB) specialized rescue and firefighting vehicles. The LRZs are used primarily for rescuing persons and goods (especially in railway tunnels) and general fire fighting (especially in fires in the immediate vicinity of railway facilities). There are currently 15 LRZs stationed on the SBB's network, prepared to approach critical areas within 30 minutes. |
