Old LNER A4 Mallard

In the TrainStation game, the "LNER A4 Mallard" is a variant of the Mallard and rewarded for sending the Sparrow Hawk 40 times as an international train.

Variants

There are 3 variants of this locomotive.

  • Sparrow Hawk, an A4 Pacific in British Railways black and green livery with BR No. 60018 and “Sparrow Hawk” on the name plate. It is available in shop for gold. Power is 7.
  • Mallard, the original Mallard locomotive which looks almost the same as the version described on this page, but with small differences. The lighting and shading is different, there is no plaque commemorating the speed record, and the nameplate is smaller. The wheels are black on the original as opposed to grey/metal on the LNER A4 Mallard. Power is 8.
  • Mallard Tatsu, the Mallard locomotive with a livery of a japanese dragon. So far it only appears in the in-game museum.

Museum
Number 4468 Mallard is a London and North Eastern Railway Class A4 4-6-2 Pacific steam locomotive built at Doncaster, England in 1938. While in other respects a relatively typical member of its class, it is historically significant for being the holder of the official world speed record for steam locomotives. Mallard is the holder of the official world speed record for steam locomotives at 125.88 mph (202.58 km/h). The record was achieved on 3 July 1938 on the slight downward grade of Stoke Bank south of Grantham on the East Coast Main Line, and the highest speed was recorded at milepost 90¼, between Little Bytham and Essendine. It broke the German (DRG Class 05) 002's 1936 record of 124.5 mph (200.4 km/h).
