V 320 is a designation of german diesel locomotive that belongs to German Federal Railway (Deutsche Bundesbahn). The locomotive was planned in 1955 as a heavy-duty machine, but its development has been postponed. In 1962, Henschel has revealed the prototype, which was built at their own expenses. After the locomotive was successfully tested, it was homologated and Federal Railway decided to lease the locomotive and put it into service as the number V 320 001 (Henschel designation was DH 4000 previously). Later, in 1968, it was renumbered as 232 001-8 according to the new classification of german locomotives.. Today, it is in service as number 320 001-1 at the Wiebe, a railway construction company. |
