The Baureihe 103 is a class of German electric locomotives operated by Deutsche Bundesbahn. For a long period, they were perceived as flagships of the DB rolling stock. As the DB planned to introduce a new InterCity system in autumn 1971, the specification sheet demanded Class 103 to be capable of pulling 400 tons at 200 km/h. With a total of 145 units, the Class 103 became the backbone of German Trans Europ Express and InterCity lines. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DB_Class_103 |
