| This prototype double-decker train is produced by Alstom as a part of its bid to supply rolling stock for the HS2 rail line in the United Kingdom, connecting London, Birmingham and Leeds. The French rail company hopes to win the £7.5bn contract with their proposed two-level trains for the route, which is hoped to be operational in 2026. Although the final specification for the contract to build the required 160 trains, which are each 650ft long, has yet to be decided, Alstom wants twin-deck designs to be considered, saying they will bring advantages to passengers, allowing the trains to hold 40% more passengers compared to a standard train, while being only marginally more expensive to build.|
