The CFR Class 40 is a Romanian electric locomotive series. They were produced by ASEA of Sweden from 1965 to 1991, and then by Electroputere Craiova under ASEA license. It was the first Romanian electric locomotive with the first 10 units made between 1965 and 1966 in Sweden, and then in Romania after the manufacturing plants have been delivered. With power of 5100 kW, weight of 120 tons, and maximum speed 120 km/h, they are still being used today after some refurbisments. The more recent CFR Class 41 and CFR Class 42 locomotives deviates only slightly from the design of the CFR Class 40. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CFR_Class_EA |
