These locomotives, built for the National Railway Company of Belgium (NMBS in Dutch language, or SNCB inf French) were the last ones utilizing the 4-4-2 "Atlantic" wheel arrangement. Their purpose was to pull light and fast trains between larger Belgian cities. The first engine of the Twelve class began its service between Ostend and Brussels, pulling a 250t train at maximum speed of 140km/h. |
