Old BNSF RLM

The SD70 is a 6-axle diesel-electric locomotive built by EMD. Several models are available, with power output of 4,000-4,500HP (3,000-3,400kW). More than 4,300 have been built since production started in 1992 and the locomotives operate on four continents. Union Pacific owns more than 2,000 SD70s and BNSF has more than 1,400. This version represents two SD70s that BNSF converted to run on refrigerated liquid methane (RLM), which is stored in the tank car between the locomotives. (In reality, the two locomotives are numbers 9130 and 9131; the real BNSF 4737 and 4769 are GE Dash-9 series locomotives.)

Museum
Traditionally, the EMD SD70 is known as a series of diesel-electric locomotives produced by Electro-Motive Diesel. However, the CEO of the BNSF railroad (a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway) announced that the company would invest in a pilot program to build six liquefied natural gas (LNG) powered locomotives in 2013. The move is motivated by the wide price difference between natural gas and the diesel fuel that the majority of US locomotives currently use.
