The RS series of locomotives is likely what the American Locomotive Company is best remembered for. The Alco RS3 is clearly the flagship of the series, outselling all other designs in its class combined. RS3 produced enough horsepower to be used on virtually any train but was still lightweight and versatile enough to be used on even secondary and light branch lines. The RS3s was also well known for its great reliability. |
