The Acela Express is Amtrak's high-speed train along the Northeast Corridor between Washington and Boston. It uses tilting technology which allows the train to travel at higher speeds without disturbing passengers. They are the only true high-speed trainsets in North America, the highest speed they attain is 240 km/h, though they average less than half of that. The Acela Express is one of the few Amtrak lines to operate at a profit. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acela_Express |
