The ČD Class 210 is an electric locomotive designed for shunting and light track service, which was made in Škoda Plzen between 1972 and 1988. A total of 74 units, which ran under ČSD and is currently operated by its successor organization (Czech Railways,ČD Cargo and railway company Cargo Slovakia). Their mechanical design is based on the 110 Series engines, which are operated under a DC voltage. Different is primarily the electrical part, the class 210 was the first series of locomotives from Škoda that came equipped with a pulse thyristor control. Electrical equipment is placed under both hoods, with the cab located in between. To move on the rails without overhead wires some of the 210 series were adapted to take power from batteries located in the attached rail car.
